- Saint Mary's University
Nick McGrath was raised by entrepreneurial parents near St. Stephen, NB. Following a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University, Nick started his career in drilling rig command centers in the Canadian oilfield. Two years later, he returned to the east coast to conduct aircraft structural analysis as an engineer at an Aerospace firm in Halifax, NS. While working full-time, he completed a Master of Business Administration at Saint Mary’s University in 2015. His MBA, focused on leadership and management consulting, helped him manage a group of experienced aerospace engineers and technical specialists for the past three years. He stayed involved in the community with various roles on his condominium board of directors, the SMU MBA Executive Society, a Staff Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (and Ergonomics subcommittee), a company newsletter editorial committee and a departmental workplace improvement committee. Ultimately, his MBA and management experiences rejuvenated his dream of starting a business and after many conversations about prototyping and markets with friends, Nick gained valuable entrepreneurial experience developing business strategies part-time with founders from Halifax and Winnipeg. He now works full-time with a Halifax startup improving workplace safety for small businesses and when he’s not working, he’s cycling, reading, or playing ultimate Frisbee with friends.
