Justin Cechmanek

  • University of Waterloo

Justin started his Journey in Calgary Alberta as a biomedical engineer. His love of all things technical and challenging eventually brought him to the University of Waterloo where he completed his Masters in Mechatronics Engineering in 2016. Motivated by one of his early research positions focusing on muscle activation and neural signal analysis he began an engineering consulting company during his undergrad focusing on computer modelling and simulation. Although he spent multiple work terms at different engineering companies he attributes nearly all of his technical knowledge as coming from being a 7 year veteran of both Formula SAE and Baja SAE race teams, which provided opportunities to compete across North America. Now an avid roboticist, Justin spends his time developing autonomous aerial drones and admits his real goal in life is to build the T-1000 from Terminator. When not soldering things together Justin enjoyed playing rugby as a member of the Waterloo Warriors and now wishes he could spend more time snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains.
