11. What is the Job Application Process?

Fellows will be introduced to Partner Startups through the online Fellowship Job Board; in-person at Fellow Connect events and through connections within our network. It is important to note that we do not match or place Fellows in jobs. Instead we work to bring Fellows and our Partner Startups together, allowing you to get your foot in the door. Fellows are responsible for updating their application materials, applying to jobs, preparing for interviews and negotiating their salary. Throughout Training Camp, we will provide training and guidance to help prepare you for the Job Application Process.

12. How does Venture for Canada select it's Partner Startups?

We work with a wide variety of high growth startups in various industries across Ontario and Atlantic Canada. We look for the following criteria when partnering with a startup:

  • Offers full-time, permanent positions
  • Approximately 5 - 150 employees
  • Less than 10 years old
  • Provides growth, mentorship and learning opportunities for Fellows
  • Must be Canadian incorporated and have an established physical presence in Canada

13. Is this a paid position?

We do not pay you to be a part of the Fellowship, however, all positions offered by our Startup Partners are full-time and paid. Each contract is negotiated between you and your employer, and therefore salary may vary between startup and region.

14. What kind of role will I work in?

Our Partner Startups are often looking for people to work in entry level, soft roles; as most of them do not require a technical background. These roles include: business development/sales, customer success, analysts, marketing and operations.
